Prayer Plant (Maranta leuconeura) – Care Instructions

The Prayer Plant, known for its vibrant, patterned leaves that fold up at night like hands in prayer, is a gorgeous and interactive addition to any plant collection.

🌞 Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. It tolerates lower light conditions but may grow more slowly. Avoid direct sun, which can fade leaf color and cause scorch.

💧 Water:
Keep the soil evenly moist, watering when the top 1 inch of soil feels dry. Use filtered or distilled water if possible—Marantas are sensitive to fluoride and salts in tap water.

🌡 Temperature & Humidity:
Thrives in warm temps (65–80°F) and needs high humidity to prevent brown leaf tips. Mist regularly, use a humidifier, or place on a pebble tray—especially in winter.

🪴 Soil & Repotting:
Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix with perlite or coco coir. Repot every 1–2 years, or when rootbound.

🌱 Fertilizer:
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer, diluted to half strength. Skip fertilizing in fall and winter.

🌿 Growth & Maintenance:
This low-growing, spreading plant looks great in shallow pots or hanging planters. Pinch back leggy stems to encourage fuller growth, and remove any yellow or crispy leaves to keep it tidy.

🖤 Pet Caution:
Non-toxic to pets—safe for curious cats and dogs!

With its striking foliage and rhythmic leaf movement, the Prayer Plant brings both color and a touch of magic to your indoor garden.
